Happy Monday evening, y'all! Typically this greeting would come first thing on Monday morning, but even with the best of intentions, sometimes life happens. "Life" for me today consisted of nothing going to plan, but luckily I've become a master of just rollin' with it. That's all we can do, right? So, here I am!
How was your weekend? We had a packed agenda that was FULL of fun! It started Friday night with a much needed (and totally unsettling) night off for The Pie Queen! Y'all, I didn't even what to do. I felt so out of sorts being home alone and not at work! I read a book, watched a movie, and was in bed by 8:00. In case you've ever wondered how wild my personal life must be, there you go!
Saturday was a BIG day for The Golliher's! We look forward to WKU's Homecoming every year, and this one did not disappoint. Western Kentucky University is a tremendous staple of my family, and any day we can make memories there together is a day we cherish. Check out our gameday crew!
Brad and I especially have a deep love for WKU, because that's where our love story really began. We started dating in 2003, the summer following his freshman year of college. I had just finished my junior year at Greenwood High School, and we were completely smitten. Do you recognize these young love birds!?
We both went on to graduate from WKU. Brad completed a degree in Advertising & Graphic Design in 2006, while I walked the line in 2007 with a Photojournalism degree. We have been many places and experienced countless ventures since then, but we are still the same kids who fell in love on The Hill. There is hardly any difference in then and now, right!?
As parents, something we have absolutely LOVED sharing with our boys, Brady & Bryce, is the profound excitement that is WKU sporting events. We truly bleed RED and there is no doubt that our boys will also do so, forever. They already do! Since this is such a passion for us, I try to get as many photos as possible when we make memories on campus. A lot of the time, they are precious and even end up hanging in our home.
Other times, however, they (or at least one) have a different plan. Remember what I said about just rollin' with it? That is exactly what it means to be a "Boy Mom"... Here is our Brady in a nutshell. No matter how hard I tried to get a good photo with him on Saturday, he gave me a good laugh instead. We'll try again next year! :)
The fun continued for us while attending a birthday party of a sweet friend, Kasen. The boys loved the theme, and it goes without saying they LOVED the goodies even more. I think Bryce was a satisfied guest. Would you agree?
There were a couple more highlights from my weekend that are TOTALLY worth mentioning. I am going to save the best for last, but check out the SUPER exciting (and super adorable!) card I stumbled upon. You better believe that I immediately gave it a new home, and I'm considering ordering a hundred more! How PERFECT is it!?
Now for the REALLY, REALLY, STUPENDOUS highlight! My brother, Jonathan, and his wife, Ashley are MAKING ME AN AUNT, Y'ALL!!! I found this onesie and genuinely wanted to buy it in every size, but I refrained... for now. This baby is totally ready to join the Jones Family!
I love to reflect on weekends such as this one, because in a world where we are constantly running on E, friends and family refill and recharge our hearts to the fullest. It is easy to acknowledge our busy lifestyles and sleepless nights. The long shifts that get messy, or sick days that find no rest. The early mornings that are always unkind, and the grouchy remarks of unpleasant people passing by. What is even easier, although not done enough, is to acknowledge whatever it is that puts love and light into our lives. The things that make us who we are, that make us happy, and that make us forget about the hard days. Friends and family do that for me, and I enjoy recalling the moments that brought me love and light as each weekend passes. What is the love and light in your life?
This week on the blog:
Join me on Wednesday for another recipe release! This one is one of my favorites, and it is truly stamped with Southern Charm. Are you curious yet!? Then, be sure to meet me back here on Friday morning for a new feature in the Spotted Series. I am pretty proud to highlight a young woman who is doing seriously awesome things, and I am lucky enough to call her a friend. You'll want to meet her, promise!
Lastly, it's important to note that this Saturday night is our Fall Harvest Dinner, which is the LAST Saturday night event of 2017 for The Boyce General Store. How is that possible!? Come out and join us, you won't want to miss it! We would absolutely love to see you there.
Happy Monday, Happy Week, Happy Everything! Blessings to you, see you on Wednesday!
